Now it's time to write your Peer Tutor Philosophy! Look back at your tutoring intuition that you wrote in week two. How has your intuition grown into practice? What is your goal as a tutor? What sort of impact do you want to make on students? On each other? Think about what is important to you as a tutor and how you enact these beliefs in your sessions.
You may want to consider the following (you don't need to answer these questions, they are just to help guide your thinking):
What are your personal beliefs related to sessions?
How do you envision your role within the session?
How do you envision your role as a tutor within the university?
How do you approach sessions?
What are the most important aspects of being a tutor?
What would be the ideal session?
What aspects of the process are important to you?
You can write your philosophy in any form and style (essay, poem, etc.) that best conveys your thoughts, beliefs and feelings, but think about ways to make it a cohesive narrative. You will continue to work on/refine your philosophy this quarter, so consider this your first draft! Please email your draft (a crappy first one is okay) to Laura by the end of the week.
