At the end of every quarter, the CEC Team will reach out to community partners to request that they complete a short evaluation for each UW student who signed up with them (see below). We will request these evaluations due by the end of Week 10, and instructors are able to view them (more on this in Module 4). While we follow up with multiple reminders, our team does not receive 100% response rate on end-of-quarter evaluations. For this reason, different instructors take different approaches to keeping track of students' community-engaged commitments.
Using students' journal entries, Canvas check ins, and reflection assignments: For some students, personal interest and the knowledge that CEL is a requirement, built into all of their major activities and assignments, is enough to hold them accountable to their weekly commitments.
Letters signed by community partner site supervisor at end-of-quarter: Some instructors require students to have their site supervisor sign an end-of-quarter letter, agreeing that this student has followed through with their regular commitments throughout the quarter.
*Please note: While some community partners have systems in place to track volunteers' hours, many do not. We ask that you please do not anticipate that site supervisors will be able to name a specific number of hours that your student has completed. If you go this route, we suggest that you ask site supervisors for a more general confirmation of the students' consistency and follow-through on their commitment with the community partner.
