In this section of Learning Coach Corner, you will learn about the partnership between Learning Coaches and UVA and how the partnership allows us to instruct and support your child(ren) effectively. We also explain the level of support that our UVA students need from their Learning Coaches to thrive as online public school students.

The Orientation Shoppe will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. However, we recommend only spending 20-30 minutes per day reading the material to let the information "soak in."

The UVA Student Experience -- A section that explores the typical student experience, including what a daily, weekly, and monthly calendar might entail. In addition, we discuss flexibility and ways to incorporate flexibility into your child's learning experience.
The Learning Coach Role Explained -- A review of your role and your relationship with the student and the school. This section also includes tips and suggestions (including handy downloadable files) about being an effective Learning Coach.
Study Tips for a Successful Learning Experience -- A resource compiled from teachers' input on best practices for learning at UVA. It is organized according to grade levels and subject areas.
Canvas Pavilion -- A brief detour to this section of Learning Coach Corner to expand your knowledge of your Canvas Observer account and to review a set of skills from the Canvas training modules that will make Canvas easier to use.
Final Thoughts -- A closing message for our Learning Coaches to wrap things up.

That will allow you to be "on the same page" with the student's teachers when phone calls begin. In addition, completing this section before the student starts assignments will ensure you are ready to support your child as the Learning Coach. (Your child and your child's teachers will thank you!)
