Florida Decides Healthcare
It is time to let us decide about access to healthcare! Up to 3.7 million Floridians are uninsured or losing coverage. Over one million petitions from registered FL voters are needed to get an amendment to our FL constitution on the ballot. Signing the petition and encouraging others to do so is most important now.
Petitions will be available after most Sunday services or go to floridadecideshealthcare.org to obtain a petition. This is about equity, fairness, dignity and helping Floridians gain access to affordable, life-saving care. Thanks for your help!
Mision Peniel
In February, we had four days of freezing temperatures. The damage to crops means that harvesting would need to be stopped weeks earlier than usual. This, of course, affects the farmworkers’ income. In addition to the damaged agriculture, families are being separated through detentions and deportations, even those with legal status. There is a great deal of anxiety among those who remain. Many are afraid to leave their home.
One way to support the farmworkers is through contributions to Mision Peniel. We have a box in the front foyer with a list of suggested donations. The current list for May and June includes: caps/hats, umbrellas, rain jackets/ponchos, towels, socks, rice, dry pinto beans, canned meat (no tuna), cereal, cooking oil, canned vegetables, and diapers #6.
Many thanks for your help in feeding about 500 farmworkers a week!
Split the Plate 2nd Sundays!
Half the collections will go to an organization chosen by the Social Justice Committee.
