Living Room Conversations:
February 22 at 11:45 - 1:15 on Healthy Conflict
Living Room Conversations will begin to meet on a monthly basis again. It is one way to have meaningful conversations and get to know each other better. Register & request for childcare by the Thursday before at office@uunaples.org so you will receive an email with the questions about the topic and to ensure we have enough food as lunch is provided. People attending need to be committed to stay until 1:15 PM. Please see Kathie Gorski or Janet Hoffman if you have questions.
New UU Writers Group Being Formed This Month!
If you are curious/interested, contact Kathie Gorski by February 10!
The goal of the UU Writers Group is to support UUCGN members and friends who are interested in using the practice of writing to focus on spiritual discernment. The group, which will meet once a month for 3 months or more starting in late February, will use a provided monthly theme to seek personal insight and self-expression by writing. At the meeting, participants will share their writing with others in the group. This is not a writing group in which one’s writing is critiqued but is more a spiritual discussion.
Each monthly theme includes personal warm-up questions and 5-6 richly developed writing prompts/exercises to choose from. The suggested structure involves participants picking one of the writing exercises and working on it in advance of the group meeting. During the meeting, the facilitator will lead the group through a warm-up exercise, group sharing, and a closing ritual.
If you are curious about the UU Writers Group, the best way to get a sense of the curriculum is to explore the Participant Packet directly. Email kathie.gorski@gmail.com to receive a copy of the sample packet via email, as a PDF. You can follow up with any questions about the program at the same email address.
The minimum number of participants is five. Once we determine if there are enough folks interested in participating, we’ll send an email with several options for meeting, will choose the best day/time based on responses, and will plan to schedule the first meeting in late February. The February theme is Resilience. (Yes, this is the same theme as the Chalice Circles are using in February, but the focus is different, the resource packet is streamlined, the prompts and writing choices are quite different, and the group meets just once a month.)
Aging Wisely
“Changing The Paradigm of Dying”
Thursday, February 26 at 2 pm
For our February meeting, Albert Waldman will lead us in a consideration of death. We will begin with a dialogue about our experiences and feelings regarding death. From there, we will discuss alternative ways of looking at dying with the aim of becoming more comfortable with the end-of-life situation.
Aging Wisely is a monthly gathering focusing on the joys and challenges of aging. It provides an opportunity to focus on various aspects of the aging process in a welcoming, non-judgmental, and supportive group that allows for deep and honest sharing. All are welcome regardless of your chronological age. You do not need to commit to coming every month. We begin with a check-in and a brief reading, followed by conversation. Ann Fisher, LCSW, a psychotherapist who specializes in aging, facilitates the group. annmfisher3@gmail.com.

Articulating Our Beliefs, Living Our Values
Watch for our next date!! - led by Rev. Tony Fisher
A blend of spiritual and intellectual growth. Like any worthwhile religious tradition, Unitarian Universalism asks a lot of us as human beings. The minister's workshops this year will be a survey of Unitarian Universalism with the ultimate goal of building the attendee's ability to clearly articulate what this tradition is all about, what we as individuals hold as our highest values, and how we might live those values more fully in the real world. There will be lots of stories and discussions and, hopefully, lots to think about.
Visual Arts Group
4th Mondays at 3 pm on the Pavilion
This group meets to work on their own art projects, to discuss their work, have critical and helpful discussions with others, and to help plan future gallery exhibits! Please bring whatever art media you choose to work with and we will use our garden for subject matter. Watercolor, pastels, colored pencils, whatever you choose. Refreshments will be available. Please remember water and bug spray. Questions? Call Ann Fullarton: 239.451.7547
Chalice Circles
When? Twice a month, for one and one half hours, day & time to be determined by each group, January-March.
Who? A facilitator coached in the well-researched deep listening format, and up to 7 other members; a “closed” group where trust is built over time.
Material? Provided by UU Soul Matters, with a new packet of materials gifted to you each month.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by such wonderful abundance when you look at the month's material. Keep in mind that the packet you receive is designed for a once a month meeting, lasting two hours. But, at UUCGN, we use the material for two sessions every month, each lasting one and a half hours. This format allows us to go more deeply.
The first session of each month focuses on the “Spiritual Exercises”, (in this case, “Building Belonging” Options A-F). We each choose whichever one resonates and spend some time most days thinking about it. We then come to the first meeting ready to talk about what we learned about ourselves.
The second meeting, two weeks later, will be based on the “Your Question” section. Each of us will pick whichever one “shimmers,“ and spend the next two weeks thinking about it which then becomes the focus of our personal sharing for session two. At the close of session two, we will distribute the new material for the following month.
