The Student Council is a board of students who aim to represent the student body in a way that improves the school environment. Our objective is to work with the students to further build the school’s domain in a way that helps students thrive. We collaborate with the school to ensure that everything that the students like is maintained and try to take action on anything that could help meet student’s wants and needs.
In the student council, there are Student Council board members who make the ultimate decisions (*for more information see below) and Student Council union members who contribute to meetings with their insights, concerns, or help.
Sveriges Elevsråd is an organisation that gives us funds to carry out our projects and plans.
We receive money depending on the amount of Union Members we have! So, if any student council member is asking you to fill out a small paper that registers you it is for helping the school get more money to get the ability to improve all the things we need to. (Being a student union member does not mean you need to do any student council work!)
Sveriges Elevråd additionally gives us much needed support during yearly elections and occasionally during meetings!
The Student Council board consists of 9 members with 7 different roles. Other than the decided positions, there are two additional positions for board members.

As the Student Council, our main objective is to represent the student body. We represent the students' and their ideas and opinions. In order to gather students' ideas and opinions in an effective way, the Student Council created and set up a feedback/reporting box. This box is right now still up and can be found on the first floor of the annex building, in front of the teacher’s lounge.
We recently had an IB evaluation and the Student Council helped the IB evaluation team by giving them a tour of our school. The student council was able to represent the student body during the IB evaluation. We were able to provide them with our experiences and perspective on IB.
For the past few years, the Student Council has been organizing the end of term assemblies. Doing this we have inspired students from outside the student council to join in as well, whether it be helping organize the assembly or planning performances for the assembly. In the past we have included interactive activities during the assemblies such as Kahoots or quizzes to make the assembly more enjoyable for the students.
In the past we have collaborated with the DP student council to organize the assemblies as well. This helped us gather ideas from different age groups and allowed us to create an assembly that would be enjoyed by understanding different perspectives.

To get our students into spirit, we came up with an idea and made something called "Spirit Day". Our ideas was that every last Wednesday of each month, we will host a spirit day, where you either dress up or do something to earn house points. For example, in February, we did a Valentines day special, for each heart, pink/white/red item you have on, you get one house point, the more valentines elements, the more points. Sometimes in a month, there could be more than one spirit day, because there could be multiple events in a month.
In November 2025, we got invited to a meeting in Malmö and we went. In the meeting, we discussed about discrimination, oppression, and harassment, things some people have faced and what we can do to stop it, etc. After that we roamed around Malmö a bit and eventually went home around 20:00. It was really fun.
In December 2025, three of our board members went all the way up to the annual meeting in Stockholm to collect and win our award of "Årets Elevråd". We got the award because we organised different activities for Spirit Day, we went to the Malmö meeting, and that for several years we have created a big community and strengthened school spirit. We stayed for two nights and had so much fun, they played at laserdome, had a gala where they got the award and had a nice fancy dinner, we also met many people from different cities and councils, befriending them.
During events, we go around the school decorating and putting up posters (for spirit day) around the school, pushing the spirit up and letting the students know that we exist and that we have more spirit days coming up. We usually put them a week in advance so it's not too late or too early.
In early February 2026, we went to Hässleholm to talk about activities, annual assemblies and economics. Then we had to advertise to get diskrimenering interviews for Maria (our elevråd manager).
Late February 2026, we were invited to attend an event for and with all the principals in Helsingborg because of our Årets Elevråd award and we just made a speech and told them what we did, what we've accomplished etc. We were invited byy the HBG Municipality.
In mid March 2026, we had someone from the EU come to us and telling us about the EU and etc.
We got another award but in hbg, "Årets mest lyckade miss 2025" which we found mean and didn't like but we got 50k so, we're okay with it, but we still dont like the award that we got. We go the award because we had a design of our outdoor gym (The Colosseum/Giggle Garden) which we accidently forgot to add a machine that we had in real life but no the design so they called it a mistake, but it sounds like failure which hurted the members, especially Ms. Josie and the handlers. We designed and made the decision of putting an outdoor gym and bleachers because the outdoor campus was bring and the students said that they wanted something so we decided on putting an outdoor gym.
Mid march 2026, we went to a meeting in Malmö International School. A few international schools of the South West (Skåne) were invited to the event as well, (us, MISSO obviously, ISLK, ISÄ) we talked about our agendas, how each council does specific things, etc.
For elections, we had the idea of making memes for posters, to catch the attention of MYP1s since they are the ones who are mostly on memes.
Our current biggest project that we have helped out with at the school this year is the modification of the outdoor playground in our new Olympiaskolan campus! The school is collaborating with the commune. With gathered input from students - we decided upon a final draft from the collection of ideas from our students of what can be added or changed in the area; which is due to start construction spring of 2025!

The Student Council follows a democratic system where the board members are chosen through voting. This typically happens in April-May and the chosen board members are assigned their roles for the following school year.
Last year, we put up posters to inform people of the upcoming Student Council election. To nominate oneself in the elections, it was necessary to scan a QR code in the poster, which was linked to a form for registering the individual as a nominee. It is possible to originally nominate oneself to only one certain role.
During the election, the nominees will present a speech for the Student Council union. Once all the nominees had presented their speech for that specific role, the union held an anonymous vote and the selected student was then revealed. This process is used during the election of all the roles in the Student Council board (the number of the board officials may change every year, however it is entirely up to the Sverige's Elevsråd official guiding us with our election.)
Student Council Meetings are held at designated times which usually fall on Tuesdays after school. There are also meetings held in collaboration with the DP Student Council. The MYP student council is supervised by Ms. Josie, while the DP student council is supervised by Mr. Ivan.
Everyone is welcome to attend student council meetings! Union members don't have mandatory attendance. You may join to pitch in ideas and opinions if it is of your interest, bring attention to any problems, or utilise for your core/community project if relevant. Attending board meetings might also be nice for those who would like to join and run for Board positions in the future, as it can help gain experience in Student Council functions.
The meeting notes are taken by the secretary of the Student Council board and follow a designated template that is assigned from Sverige’s Elevråd. This ensures that the timekeeping is organised and easy to access for other members if they need to look back on previously discussed material to take action upon.
