The Junior Blues started the boys game by shooting five of their first six 3-pointers en route to a 19-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Emporia High subbed out its starters early in the second quarter and brought in a junior varsity unit to provide a spark, however, the Spartans still trailed 41-18 at halftime.
The Spartans played a closer second half with the Junior Blues but were outscored 24-21. Kobe Franklin led Emporia High with nine points. Emporia High coach Lee Baldwin was unavailable to speak about the contest.
Emporia High has dropped three in a row for the first time under Coach Baldwin and is now 10-7 and 3-4 in the Centennial League. Emporia High is back in action Friday night at home hosting Topeka High. The RV-Doc Pregame Show is at 5:45 p.m. on KVOE.
