Emporia High snapped a 3-game losing streak with a 64-35 victory over the Trojans, winning the Dean Smith Trophy. 

In the boys game, Emporia High jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back. The Spartans led 16-11 after the first quarter and 30-18 at halftime. Emporia High outscored Topeka High 34-17 in the second half. 

Two Spartans scored in double figures led by Rylan Crowell’s 18 points and 14 rebounds. Kobe Franklin added 16. Emporia High assistant coach Jacob Kehres, who was filling in for head coach Lee Baldwin, said it was a great win to get. Emporia High is now 11-7 on the season and 4-4 in the Centennial.
