The Spartans won their fifth straight with a 37-35 victory over the Indians.
In the boys game, Emporia High led by as many as six on several occasions and led 12-8 after one before Manhattan tied the game at 19 at halftime. Emporia High led by six in the third and led 29-24 heading into the fourth quarter. Manhattan took a 31-30 lead before Harry Trelc hit a 3-pointer to give the Spartans the lead back.Â
Manhattan tied the game at 33 before Kobe Franklin hit a jumper to give the Spartans the lead for good with 1:10 remaining. Rylan Crowell led Emporia High with 10 points. Emporia High coach Lee Baldwin said his team made plays at the right time. Emporia High is now 10-4, 3-1 Centennial League.
