One graduation requirement at Bonner Springs High School is to complete an experiential learning project known as the "Senior Project." The project is the basis for your Senior English grade. The Senior Project provides the opportunity for students to have a career-related or community-based work experience within an area of interest, and be challenged to explore the different aspects of their career experience and learn about themselves in the process.
The Senior Project contains three components:
Research Project
Product (Rough Draft of Forms)
Boards Presentation
Seniors begin work on their project in the spring semester of their junior year and continue working on the project throughout senior year culminating with the Senior Board presentation in May ahead of graduation. It may sound like there is a lot of time to prepare (or procrastinate!) but the recommended course of action is for students to start EARLY to give themselves plenty of time to meet all the requirements of the technical parts of the project, as well as preparing to be comfortable presenting the project to a panel of faculty and community members. This can be a feat along with managing the rest of life's obligations.
