Finding multicultural texts can help foster socioculural competence in our students. In science, we can present a problem facing our world today and see how this problem affects different groups of people around the world. In this example, the story revolves around two Chilean children who face the problem of ocean pollution and explore a possible solution. A text like this can be the starting point for a much more deep conversation on topics such as envrionmental racism depending on the age level.
