Translanguaging is the act of a person using their whole linguistic repetoire to make meaning.
“translanguaging fosters bilingual students’ identities and socio-emotional development, which promotes social justice” ( Garcia et al., 2017, p.g 14).
I am a K-5 Multilingual Learner (MLL) teacher in Weymouth Massachusetts.
I teach only in a pull out format with students that are identified as English Language Learners (ELL) by the WIDA screener for ELLs and/or have scored a 4.1 or lower on both the literacy and overall portions of the ACCESS for ELLs test.
This portfolio will look at translanguaging in the pull out format and the general education classroom.
I am currently getting my masters in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL) at the University of Rhode Island (URI).
