Classroom Procedures and Rules

Arriving to Science Class

• Put your belongings away neatly and keep your area clutter-free.

• Sharpen pencils before instruction begins.

• Turn in homework or assignments to the correct bin.

• Spiral Review begins immediately at the start of class and lasts 10 minutes.

• You are expected to enter quietly and begin working right away.

• If you are not starting the spiral review quietly, you are not prepared for class.

If You Are Late to Science Class

• Enter the classroom quietly.

• Sit at the last available desk at your assigned group table.

• Begin working immediately without disrupting instruction.

• Student groups are assigned by the teacher and may change depending on the activity.

When You Are in a Line

• Remain silent.

• Keep hands folded across your chest.

• Stay in a straight line.

Assignments & Homework

• Homework should not be worked on during class arrival or spiral review time.

• You are given sufficient time during the school day to complete assignments—use it wisely.

• Label all papers in the upper right-hand corner with:

  • Name

  • Number

  • Homeroom teacher

  • Date

  • Title

• Use loose-leaf paper only. Papers with torn edges will not be accepted.

• Assignments must be completed in blue or black ink or pencil.

• Turn in work to the appropriate bin when finished.

• Write all assignments in your notebook, homework binder, or agenda.

Transitioning

• Turn in assignments to the correct bin.

• Clear your desk for the next activity or class.

• Keep talking to a minimum.

• Do not get up or wander unless directed.

• Remain seated until instructed otherwise.

Dismissal

• You will be dismissed by table once your area is clean and you are quiet.

• Walk directly to your assigned line.

• Remain in a straight line until released by the teacher.
