Faculty Development Grant (FDG)
The Faculty Development Grant (FDG) is given for academic presentation in international/ national conferences/ conventions; attendance in conferences held in the Philippines but not presenting, where each college is allowed to send up to three faculty members per national conference and a maximum of two for international conferences; short courses/training programs overseas included in a 5-year faculty development plan submitted to and accepted by the OVCAA. Each college is allowed to send up to a maximum of two (2) faculty members per short course/training program.
The grant is open to individuals who have served UP Manila as faculty for two years or more for international conferences; and at least one year for conferences held in the Philippines. It is open to faculty who are working full time or part time with or without tenure; clinical faculty; or lecturers who have been teaching for the last five years, carrying six units per semester and are not appointed as regular faculty due to lack of items. The faculty should not be teaching in other schools/universities without a memorandum of agreement. The affiliation with UP Manila should be reflected in the communication, invitation, and/or abstract for presentation.
The faculty can avail of the grant once a year only for conferences, subject to availability of funds. If previous recipient of the grant, the faculty should have submitted reports and receipts and should show proof that s/he has echoed what was learned to colleagues in the unit/department.
