Sa Pagsapit ng Dilim
The title of my photo, "Sa Pagsapit ng Dilim," is inspired from the song "Himig ng Pag-ibig" by Asin, one of my all-time favorite OPM songs. The scene captures the transition from day to night, in the heart of Manila.
I took this photo using a camera lent to me by a friend, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to experience photography through different lenses. For post-processing, I relied on my iPhone XR to make adjustments to the image. This photograph features a stunning sunset, cradled by the silhouette of cable lines, a lamp, and the outlines of a bridge. It's the sun that truly captivates me, its warm glow perfectly framed by the structures. This juxtaposition of natural beauty and the cityscape, for me, creates a harmonious blend.
In this image, the silhouette technique is central. It allows the viewer to focus on the shapes and outlines created by the backlighting of the setting sun. The contrast between the darkened foreground and the fiery hues of the sky emphasizes the beauty of the city as it slips into the evening. The rule of thirds is subtly at play, with the sun setting just off-center, drawing the eye across the scene and adding balance to the composition.
"Sa Pagsapit ng Dilim," is more than just an image; it is a timeless piece that captures the essence of Manila as day gives way to night, reminding us of the beauty that exists in the daily rhythm of life.
