Karma is a Cat
I titled this photo "Karma is a Cat," drawing inspiration from a Taylor Swift song called "Karma." This image is my attempt to capture "height" in a frame. The photograph has a funny backstory; it wasn't a simple shot. It took numerous attempts to get this right, and I'm so grateful to my friend Unicharmed for her assistance. She was instrumental in getting the stray cat's attention. By repeatedly murmuring 'swswswswswswsw' and wiggling her fingers just out of frame, she managed to grab the cat's attention and elicit a perfect, undivided stare into the camera.
In this photo, I aimed to highlight not only the concept of height but also the texture that is so prominent in the scene. The cat's fur is a contrast against the rough, cracked pavement, and the way it looks up at the camera adds a sense of vertical dimension to the composition. The overhead perspective creates a unique viewpoint, showcasing the cat's place in its environment.
The lighting in this photo brings out the details of the cat’s fur and the textures around it, providing a warm ambiance to the scene. The framing and composition guide the viewer's eye directly to the cat's expressive eyes, making it the focal point of the image.
This photograph, to me, is a blend of patience, technique, and a little bit of serendipity, making it a memorable capture in my journey as a photographer.
