The Grid of Life
While walking in the streets of Escolta, Manila, I was mesmerized by this building. As I've said in my previous blog, architectural photography was one of my favorites. In this photo, I wanted to capture the concept of "pattern" and for me, this building was the perfect subject. I borrowed a NIKON D5300 from a friend to take this shot. To highlight the building's repetitive design, I carefully cropped the photo and zoomed in just enough to make the pattern really stand out against the sky.
As I took the photograph, I felt a profound connection. It wasn't just with the building itself but also with the lives of those who lived there. The uniformity of the structure might be the first thing we notice, but every window, every unit, and every balcony tells a different story. Each one holds a unique narrative, teeming with individual experiences and perspectives that are just waiting to be uncovered and cherished.
It's incredible to think how a simple image can illustrate the beauty of repetition and symmetry. The contrasting colors between the building and the sky also add to the visual appeal, creating a striking balance. For me, this photo encapsulates the vibrant diversity of human stories often hidden within the uniformity of urban landscapes.
