Muling Pagbubukadkad
This shot was taken around Manila, specifically in front of the Manila Post Office. I have used this image to capture "flower". This photograph was a personal challenge. It was my first time using a professional camera, and initially, I struggled with the focus and settings. Fortunately, a friend of mine was there to guide me through the process. After several attempts, I finally snapped a shot that, to me, stood out from the rest.
I took extra care in post-processing, cropping the photo and zooming in slightly to ensure that the Gumamela would stand out. It's the vivid centerpiece in a composition that celebrates both simplicity and complexity, much like the nature of womanhood.
In line with the spirit of International Women's Month, I see the Gumamela as a symbol of female strength. Flowers like these embody timeless beauty, femininity, and grace. The connection between women and the Gumamela lies in the shared attributes of beauty and the inherent potential for growth, evolution, and success. Just like this flower, women have the capacity to flourish, prosper, and above all, triumph.
In this shot, I used natural light to bring out the rich red tones of the flower and the fresh green of the leaves, creating a contrast. The shallow depth of field puts the focus on the flower's details—its delicate petals and the intricate patterns of its stamen and pistil—while softly blurring the background. This technique highlights the flower's beauty and emphasizes the theme of rebirth and resilience that I wish to convey.
This Gumamela is more than just a subject of my photograph—it is a metaphor for every woman's journey. Through this image, I celebrate their undying spirit and the ever-present promise of a new beginning.
