Dr. V. Janardhan is Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology, University of Hyderabad. He joined the faculty in 2000. Born in Secunderabad in 1963, Dr. Janardhan graduated in Commerce from Osmania University. He obtained M.A, M,Phil and PhD from University of Hyderabad. He also obtained M.A in philosophy from Osmania University.

Dr. Janardhan’s first specialisation has been in the Sociology of Capital, Industry and Labour. He has been a keen student in this area of sociology for nearly three decades now and has significant published and unpublished material in this area.

As member of faculty, Dr. Janardhan has taught courses in classical sociological theory, advanced sociological theory, social stratification, political sociology, modern sociological theory, introduction to the study of society, religion and society, etc. The elective courses taught by him are Industrial Relations and Contemporary Capitalism, Corporate Business and Society, Sociology of Culture, Marxism and Capitalism, Ethics and Society, and Sociology of Business, Industry and Labour. As interdisciplinary interface, he has also taught in the School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad. He has been Resource Person at the contact classes conducted by the Human Rights Program, University of Hyderabad. Dr. Janardhan also taught two elective courses at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad, as guest faculty. While one course was on globalization, the other was industry and society.
