The Department has organized Research Methodology Course for Ph.D. scholars for 10 days , i.e. from 22-31, March, 2017. The programme is sponsored by ICSSR, New Delhi and Prof. G. Nagaraju and Dr. Satyapriya Rout were the Coordinators.

The Department has organized a Two day National Conference on ‘Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Perspectives on State, Society and Economy: Revisiting his Vision and Mission’ (22 -23 February, 2017) Prof. G. Nagaraju is the Coordinator.

Young Researchers Panel Discussion on ‘Challenges in Academic Writing’ on 25th January, 2017.

Prof N. Purendra Prasad has organized UGC-SAP Academic Writing Workshop for Ph.D. students. Prof. Sundar Sarukkai from National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore and Prof. Padma Prakash from IKF-IRIS Knowledge Foundation, Bombay during 23-27, January, 2017 were the Academic Coordinators for the Workshop.

The Department has organized UGC-SAP National Seminar on ‘Identity and Marginality in North East India: Challenges for Social Science Research’ on 16-17 January, 2017. Dr. Hoineilhing Sitlhou is Coordinator for the Seminar.

The Department has conducted One day Proposal Writing Workshop for M.A. IV Sem. Students in October, 2016

The Department has organized Young Researchers’ Workshop on ‘Against Method? Methodological Challenges for Social Science Research Today’ for two days, i.e. on 21 & 22nd January, 2015 by the Research Scholars Forum, University of Hyderabad, Department of Sociology, School of Social Sciences under UGC-SAP funds.

The Department has organised UGC-SAP National Seminar on ‘Unfamiliar Margins in the Social’ during14-15 October, 2014 for which Dr. Pushpesh Kumar was the Coordinator.

National Seminar on ‘Interrogating the De-familiar in the Social’, on 18-19 Sept. 2014, under SAP. Dr. Pushpesh Kumar is Coordinator of the Seminar.

An International Symposium-cum-Conference “Tradition, Reform & Revival in Muslim Societies: Multiple Readings” is planned for the year 2011-12, i.e. during January 16-18, 2012 - Prof. Vinod K. Jairath is the Coordinator.

International Conference on ‘Rethinking Education Policy’ under ‘Comparative Educational Society of India’ is planned during 16-18 November 2011. Dr. G. Nagaraju, Dept. of Sociology is the Organising Secretary for the Conference.

The Department has organized an interdisciplinary Indo-US Symposium on The Culture of Innovation in Science and Technology in India: Opportunities Seized and Opportunities Lost’ during January 19-21, 2006. The Symposium was supported by Indo-Us S & T Forum, AstraZeneca Research Foundation, University of Hyderabad and University of Iowa, USA.
