Eagle Nation Families,

As our year draws to a close, I want to express our staff's appreciation to all of our Eagle Nation families for your partnership throughout the school year. We will continue to work hard and finish our curriculum while including exciting activities to close the year. Our final day, May 28th, will be a half-day of school and will be our field day. This includes many outdoor activities (weather permitting), so please encourage your student to wear sunscreen. All laptops/chargers will be turned in on this day. If your student will miss this day of school, please call our attendance line and turn in all technology and books before their last day of school.

Please note that while our office will be open over the summer, our teachers, counselors, and support staff will not be in the building. Mr. Gliege and I will be in the office, as well as our amazing custodial team, working on deep cleaning our building. Freshmen Year Health Requirements

Dear Evans Eagles 8th Grade Families,

Believe it or not, your 8th-grade students' time at Evans Junior High is starting to come to a close. As we look ahead to high school, I want to remind you of the health requirements that must be met for your student to attend on the first day of high school.

As a reminder, Unit 5 has a first-day exclusion policy, which means your students' physical and immunization records must be turned in prior to the first day of school for them to attend. The Illinois State Board of Education requires that all 9th-grade students have a current physical and immunization record on file. A compliant physical is a physical exam completed on or after (8/21/25).

If your student already has a current physical on file at Evans, this physical will be sent to their high school, along with their immunization records and additional health paperwork in their school health file. If you are unsure if your student has a current physical on file in the health office, please feel free to contact me via email to check. When you complete the requirements this summer, please plan to turn them in to the high school your student will be attending by August 12, 2026.

(Please note: If an IESA/IHSA sports physical has been the only recent physical turned in, this does NOT meet the requirements for a current 9th-grade physical. A new physical must be completed on a State of Illinois Certificate of Child Health Examination Form)

A dental exam is also required in 9th grade, but that does not have to be turned in until April 2027.

2026 - 2027 Student Registration

Registration is now officially open for the upcoming school year! Please complete the online enrollment on your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. As part of this process, new and returning families may be required to provide proof of residency, such as a mortgage/lease statement, utility bills, credit card/bank statements and/or driver's license. Submitting these documents as a part of you registration through Infinite Campus will help us finalize your students enrollment for the 26/27 school year.

Final Year-End Grades

Please note that final grades will be available for viewing in the Parent Portal beginning at 4:00 p.m. on May 28th. Families will not be mailed or handed a printed report card - you can print that for your records in Infinite Campus.

Message from our IMC

Eagles, keep reading all summer to retain your reading comprehension growth from this year AND because there are so many amazing books out there that can expand your mind and touch your heart.

Bloomington Public Library and Normal Public Library both have summer reading programs that are absolutely FREE, and you can get prizes and participate in amazing activities. No library card is needed. Check out this slide show for details and/or visit the BPL and NPL websites for more information.

The libraries encourage everyone to join BOTH programs and get double the prizes and double the fun for the same reading!

Evans Staff Retirements

Two of our wonderful staff members are retiring at the end of this school year! Karen Bohl has been our Special Education Department Chair and taught in our SS1 classroom. Ruth Jerome has been a member of our office team as an administrative assistant. We will miss them greatly! If they have had an impact on your family please feel free to send a card to Evans c/o Nikki Gallier. We will share these with them during our celebration on May 28th. Thank you!
