Third Theatre in Sicily

The University of Catania research unit submitted the questionnaire to 165 groups, and 89 of them joined the mapping. 

From an initial analysis of the data it emerges that: 9 groups out of 89 (10.1%) do not recognize themselves in the definition of Third Theater, 12 out of 89 (13.5%) express recognition in this definition only with a grade of 2 out of 5; 21 out of 89 (23.6%) instead expressed recognition in the definition with a grade of 3 out of 5; 22 out of 89 (24.7%) declared that they belong to the Third Theater with a grade of 4 out of 5; while the remaining 25 (28.1%) fully recognize themselves in the definition.

L'unità di ricerca dell'Università di Catania ha sottoposto il questionario a 165 gruppi e 89 di essi hanno aderito alla mappatura. 

Da una prima analisi dei dati emerge che: 9 gruppi su 89 (10,1%) non si riconoscono nella definizione di Terzo Teatro; 12 su 89 (13,5%) si riconoscono in questa definizione solo con un grado di 2 su 5; 21 su 89 (23,6%) invece si riconoscono nella definizione con un grado di 3 su 5; 22 su 89 (24,7%) dichiarano di appartenere al Terzo Teatro con un grado di 4 su 5; mentre i restanti 25 (28,1%) si riconoscono pienamente nella definizione.

In the following pages, brief analyses are proposed by decade to trace the diffusion of the Third Theatre phenomenon in the Sicily region over the last fifty years and motivate the different degrees of self-recognition, in order to reach conclusions that attempt to define the changes in the concept of Third Theatre itself about the activities carried out by the groups themselves in the territory and to the initiatives adopted institutionally on a political, economic and social level in the territory of reference.

Nelle pagine che seguono viene tracciata una Geografia del Terzo Teatro nella regione Sicilia, unita a brevi analisi divise per decennio, in modo da ripercorrere la diffusione del fenomeno Terzo Teatro nella regione Sicilia nel corso degli ultimi cinquant'anni e motivare i diversi gradi di auto-riconoscimento nel fenomeno da parte dei gruppi, tentando anche di definire i cambiamenti del concetto stesso di Terzo Teatro in merito alle attività svolte dai gruppi e alle iniziative adottate a livello istituzionale sul piano politico, economico e sociale nel territorio di riferimento.
