Gianluca Ferro graduated in 2024 in Electronic Engineering from La Sapienza University of Rome, achieving a score of 110 cum laude. His thesis, titled "Time Series Forecasting Algorithms for Energy Management Systems", aimed at developing a framework for time series forecasting related to energy production and consumption in Smart Grids, with a focus on Renewable Energy Communities (RECs). Currently, Gianluca holds a research grant at the Department of Information, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (DIET). His research interests are centered on developing Artificial Intelligence models for analyzing seasonality and forecasting time series, for optimization of energy flows in Energy Management Systems (EMS). Forecasting methodologies include statistical models such as ARIMA/SARIMA, machine learning approaches like XGBoost, and neural network-based models, such as RNN/LSTM. His skills also include machine learning algorithms for energy optimization in hierarchical EMS for microgrids and Renewable Energy Communities.
