Your mission this week is to open a restaurant for your family.
You will need to do a lot of work before you open for business!
Think about what you would like to serve at your restaurant. A few examples include: sunbutter and jam sandwiches, apples slices, carrot sticks and dip, and/or lemonade. You could check out a cookbook for kids from the library to find a new recipe to try!
Shop for food. Go through your kitchen and make sure you have everything you need. If you need to go shopping, make a list so that you know exactly what you need.
Once you know what you will serve, create a menu for your customers. Be sure to include descriptions with adjectives, pictures, and prices.
Work with an adult to prepare the food. Predict how many servings will you need.
Let your guests know that the restaurant is open!
Greet your guests with a warm welcome, offer them a menu, and cool drink of water.
Take your guests orders and serve.
Once everyone has ordered, create the bill. List all of the items that were ordered and how much each item cost. Add up all the items on the bill to find the total bill amount.
Clean up.
A responsible restaurant owner must clean up after everyone has left. Be sure you clean up the kitchen and your restaurant tables!
Now that you've had a taste of the work behind running a restaurant, what do you think? Would you want to run your own restaurant?
Do you have a book or cookbook that you really enjoyed this week?
