Terrific Talents

We invite you to check out a few biographies of people that are known for their talent and creativity.

Do you see a bit of yourself in their stories? 

How did they overcome obstacles, challenges, or negative talk?

Do their stories inspire you? What does inspire you?

Thinking about the main character in the last book you read, what are their talents? 

What do you think they would be good at doing as a career?

Read a book that you've never read before, but read only the first chapter or the first one-third of the book.

What do you think will happen next? Write your own story! 

What will happen to the main characters? 

What obstacles will they face? 

How will it all end?

Wacky Write together! Take turns writing a story together. Each person writes a sentence or two then passes the story to the next person to add their wackiness.

What are jobs that involve math? 

What does a statistician do? 

Talk to your child about different career opportunities and pathways. Talk to your child about what you do and what you like and don't like about it. What would you do differently? What would you definitely do again? 

Have a conversation with an immediate and/or extended family about what their talents are. Does your uncle have a hidden talent that you never knew about? What sport did they enjoy when they were younger? Did you grandma play the cello? How do they express their creativity?
