Magnetic receiver

Receivers using magnetic detectors were used for wireless telegraphy on ships until the beginning of the 20th century. A magnetic detector was part of the wireless apparatus in the radio room of the RMS Titanic. Before the sinking of the Titanic, the radio on ships was a curiosity used to send meassages to friends. The sinking of the Titanic on the 15 April 1912 was a turning point for wireless communications, and changed the role of the wireless communication forever.

The photos show a copy of a magnetic receiver used on ships in 1907.
