Boia TS2

TS2 is the second prototype of the project's temperature and salinity monitoring buoy. It is currently being tested in the laboratory, and the chart above shows its readings as they arrive.

What it records: water temperature (°C), a raw salinity signal (not yet calibrated, shown as raw counts) and two voltmeter channels. While in the laboratory, Voltmeter 1 logs the voltage of the prototype generator presented under Development of Bioelectrochemical Generators.

Once validated, TS2 will be deployed at CEBIMar, the Marine Biology Center of the University of São Paulo (USP), in São Sebastião on the southeastern Brazilian coast. CEBIMar is one of the most important marine research stations in Brazil and is internationally recognized for studies involving marine biodiversity, coastal ecology, oceanography and marine environmental sciences.

The São Sebastião coastal region presents highly dynamic environmental conditions influenced by tides, seasonal oceanographic variability, rainfall, coastal currents and intense biological activity, which make the site particularly suitable for long-term environmental monitoring.
