WHAT IS ACTIVE LEARNING?
Active learning is a teaching and learning approach where students are actively engaged in the learning process, rather than passively receiving information from a teacher. In active learning, students are encouraged to ask questions, explore topics, and participate in group discussions or activities that promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
Active learning can take many forms, including:
Discussions: Students engage in class discussions about a topic or concept. This can be done in pairs, small groups, or as a whole class.
Problem-solving activities: Students work on real-world problems, puzzles, or challenges that require them to apply their knowledge and skills.
Role-playing: Students take on the role of a character or persona to explore a concept or scenario.
Collaborative projects: Students work in groups to complete a project, such as creating a presentation, video, or website.
Peer teaching: Students take turns teaching a concept or skill to their classmates.
The goal of active learning is to help students become more engaged in the learning process, develop critical thinking skills, and retain information better. Active learning has been shown to be effective in improving student outcomes, such as increased retention of information, better problem-solving skills, and higher levels of student engagement.
WHAT IS BLENDED LEARNING?
Blended learning is an approach to education that combines traditional face-to-face classroom teaching with online or digital learning activities. In other words, it's a mix of in-person and online learning experiences.
Blended learning is not just about putting traditional lectures online or simply using technology in the classroom. Rather, it is a deliberate integration of technology and traditional teaching methods in a way that enhances the learning experience for students.
The design of a blended learning program can vary widely depending on the goals of the course or program, the needs of the learners, and the resources available. Some blended learning programs might include online modules that students complete before coming to class, while others might use in-class activities to reinforce concepts introduced online.
One of the key benefits of blended learning is that it allows for greater flexibility and personalized learning. Students can work at their own pace and access materials when it's most convenient for them. Additionally, blended learning can be more cost-effective than traditional classroom teaching since it can reduce the need for physical classroom space and materials.
WHAT IS ACTIVE BLENDED LEARNING?
