University of Minnesota is official 3 weeks in to their Fall 2021 semester and it is only fitting to relive a scene from a classroom setting in honor of this new start...
Ralph T. King, a New York native, began the investigation of the ruffed grouse in the early 1930s within the Cloquet Forest. He selected the area for study due to the population of grouse he saw over a span of six years. During that time, he created a strip-census method that estimated the ruffed grouse population over time, and it was used widely amongst researchers, including Gordon W. Gullion. (1)
