Herbert E. Wright, Jr. (2017-2015), a quaternary scientist and Regents' Professor Emeritus studied the areas of geology, ecology and botany at the University of Minnesota. From his experience as a bomber pilot in World War II, Wright continued flying planes, especially when researching topographical surveys or studying the progression and regression of various glacial structures. When up in the air, Wright would take aerial photographs to document these areas of research over time. Found in the Herbert E. Wright, Jr. papers, here are a few of his aerial photographs of glacial lakes found near Ely, Minnesota.
