Did you know that the study and treatment of fence posting has been researched at the University of Minnesota over the past 75 years? Found in the John R. Neetzel papers, he along with others created a proper fence technique that was perfected for wear and tear against the Midwest climate.
John R. Neetzel started his career as a researcher for the U.S. Forest Service in 1931, and by 1947 was appointed as a member of the University of Minnesota's Forest Service's North Central Forest Experiment Station and the School of Forestry. Up until his retirement in 1965, Neetzel focused on the treatement of wood for home projects and on the farm.
