"Connecting Carlson" is the building remodel plan for the Carlson School of Management which is scheduled to break ground in December of 2024 and be completed in Fall 2026. This landing page on the AASET site will serve as a hub for resources for our graduate students as building construction takes place.
Do you have feedback relating to the building renovation project? Feel free to submit your feedback.
While the Carlson building is in a construction phase, students will understandably be seeking space to gather elsewhere.
Study Space Finder Tool
The University has a Study Space Finder tool available to students. You can use this tool to find different space options available to students across campus.
Our team has collected information about alternate spaces on the West Bank and in the surrounding neighborhoods that students can use for free or for a fee.
Equity, Belonging, and Inclusion Hub
The Equity, Belonging, and Inclusion Hub is a community-based space for students of underrepresented identities in business to connect with peers, relax, and create community. This space is open to everyone with a focus on creating a space to engage in dialogue around topics involving their respective communities.
Come to hang out, play a game, color, do a puzzle, connect with resources, or just chill.
If you or your student organization wants to host a social, cultural or community event, you can request to reserve this space at z.umn.edu/EBIHub
If you have spaces to add to this list or spaces that you would like us to learn more about, please contact aaset@umn.edu.
Graduate school is challenging enough without having to navigate a construction site within your programs building. Common construction activity such as increased noise, vibration, and modifications to spaces can be overwhelming, physically and emotionally. If you notice changes in your mood or cognitive functioning (i.e. learning), it might be a good time to connect with mental health supports on-campus.
Mitch Paradise, LICSW, is the Embedded Counselor for Carlson graduate students and is available to meet with students to provide mental health support throughout their academic programs. Mitch provides 1:1 counseling support, as well as assessment and documentation for students seeking accommodations through the Disability Resource Center.

The University of Minnesota offers a wealth of mental health and wellbeing resources to all students.
The University of Minnesota values diverse identities and experiences, and honors disability as an important aspect of human diversity. The DRC partners with students, faculty, staff, and guests of the University to facilitate accessibility and reduce barriers on campus to improve access for disabled people through:
Consulting on strategies to provide access and inclusion
Determining and implementing reasonable academic, workplace, and guest accommodations
Partnering with University office to support meaningful physical and technological access
The DRC works with students, faculty/instructors, staff, and guests with documented disabilities to facilitate access on an individualized, case-by-case basis. This interactive process takes time and requires collaboration and engagement among students and their instructors, faculty/staff and their supervisors, and guests and their hosts.
