The best way to identify key networking contacts at your target companies, or in your desired industry or functional areas is to use LinkedIn. We recommend starting on the Carlson School or U of M LinkedIn pages and then navigating to the Alumni tab. From there you can use filters to narrow down connections you may want to reach out to. See our LinkedIn resource page for more information.
A free database of companies and industry segments allows you to locate and research companies you want to work for. Data Axel has the details on 24 million U.S. businesses including 200,000 human resource contact names, business descriptions, company size, and website links to job postings.
Alumni can access online databases and publications by visiting the Wilson Business Reference Library. Your access level does not change as an alum, though you need to visit in-person rather than logging in remotely.
