Nursing Centers of Excellence
DNP students are encouraged to become members of one of the School’s six centers to enhance career development, facilitate collaborative efforts with faculty and the community, and increase dissemination of research findings to local, national and international audiences.
- Center for Adolescent Nursing
- Center for Aging Science and Care Innovation
- Center for Child and Family Health Promotion Research
- Centers for Children with Special Health Care Needs
- Center for Nursing Informatics
- Katherine J. Densford International Center for Nursing Leadership
One of the benefits is the opportunity to discuss goals, methods and funding strategies with successful colleagues. Another key benefit is the peer reviews of grant proposals and manuscript drafts that are available to all members. A monthly journal club sponsored by CGN and open to all graduate students offers critical discussion of selected research publications. There are no costs associated with membership in the Centers. Criteria for student membership include being a nurse, maintaining active student status in a University of Minnesota program, and having an academic focus related to the Center’s mission. Application instructions and forms are available from each Center’s website, which can be accessed through the main School of Nursing website. For questions about membership, please contact each Center’s director.
