Minors, Certificates, & Dual Degree

Graduate Minors

Students may choose to complete a graduate minor in a related field to enhance their DNP degree.  Graduate minors are typically 12 credits. You must consult the sponsoring college or department for the minor to ensure you meet the minor program requirements.   To add a minor program to your degree follow the instructions to add the minor program.   All program requirements for the minor and DNP must be completed for conferral of the degree.

Certificate Programs

Certificates are stand alone programs offered through the University of Minnesota and may be completed concurrently with your DNP degree.  Please see the University Catalog for a full list of available certificate programs.  As a stand alone program, each certificate will have a separate admission process.  Admission to the DNP degree does not automatically provide admission to a certificate program even if the DNP program requirements overlap with certificate program requirements.   You must consult the sponsoring college or department for the certificate program to ensure you meet the admission and  program requirements.

Master of Public Health Dual Degree

The School of Nursing and the School of Public Health offer a DNP/MPH-Public Health Practice dual degree program. This dual degree option provides students with a unique opportunity to provide advanced nursing care as leaders of interprofessional health care teams, emphasizing population-focused practice, and quality improvement to impact patient outcomes.
