Sigma Theta Tau International

The international honor society of nursing, Sigma Theta Tau, has a chapter at the University of Minnesota. Installed in 1934, Zeta Chapter is one of the oldest chapters in the country. The honor society recognizes superior achievement and leadership qualities, fosters high professional standards, encourages creative work, and strengthens commitment to the ideals and purposes of the profession. Zeta Chapter sponsors an annual research day, provides grants for research, presents annual awards for nursing excellence and leadership, and organizes programs of interest to its members. The membership selects new members from undergraduate and graduate students nominated by the faculty and from professional nurses in the community nominated by members or faculty.
