Welcome

I am very much looking forward to guiding you through your exploration of the dance, music and culture of flamenco, its rich history and the myriad of cultures that have influenced the artform, making it what it is today.

Course Description and Goals

This course will provide an in-depth study of the music, dance and history of flamenco, and the diverse groups who have influenced and contributed to it. Students will gain insight into the minority groups of Spain, and how their respective artistry has greatly impacted the culture of the country and the world. Throughout the semester, we will study and celebrate the diversity of the multicultural peoples associated with artform as well as the evolution of gender roles that have taken place throughout the years.
