Environmental Issues
Welcome
Welcome! We (Marlene and Kathleen) are so excited to begin exploring our Topics course with you. We have gathered materials from a wide variety of current resources, including authentic readings, short cultural videos, podcasts that feature real-life climate heroes and intriguing documentaries. We hope this class proves to be engaging and inspiring and we are looking forward to exploring these important environmental themes with you. Although we have collaborated to design and create this course, we will be teaching our classes individually and customizing the content and flow according to the needs of our classes.
Course Description and Goals
In this class, we will familiarize ourselves with some of the environmental issues that Latin American countries and Spain are currently facing and how they are responding to them. We will take a closer look at how these issues impact society in different ways, for instance economically and culturally. Further, we will try to imagine and understand the ways in which these issues may impact the future. Together we will get curious about problems and solutions, consumption, and sustainability.
Taking this course would help students to qualify for the Excellence in Sustainability Honors Cord Program. More details here.
