My peace offering is a video of me drawing while Comfort Crowd by Conan Gray plays in the background. It verbalizes the loneliness that most of us have felt during the Covid-19 pandemic. I invite others to take a minute to relax or draw along as my video plays.
I chose Comfort Crowd to play in the background because I feel that it verbalizes how a lot of us have felt during the Covid-19 pandemic. The song describes how loneliness weighs heavily on the heart. So many of us have felt lonely during the pandemic and many of us have gotten good at hiding how we feel when other people come around. I think that we start to heal when we open up to friends and family about what has been on our minds and hearts. One lyric that depicts this idea is,
Wellin' up in tears as I lay upon your belly
Telling you I'm fine
I don't really need nobody
But you say through a sigh
That I said that lie already
Even though we may try to hide our feelings out of fear of burdening others, it is comforting to know that we are not as alone as we think. In talking to others, we can realize that most people are feeling the same way.
Draw while listening to music. It can help you relax and put your feelings into words. Your art can also be a talking point in a conversation with your friends and family about how you feel.
