Improv for Engaging Conversations

Hosted by Seth Wiley and William Dean (FA19-Present)

Previously Hosted by Sara Wong and Seth Wiley (WN19)

With the goal of preparing scientists for "Meet A Scientist" events, this workshop uses improv to develop several critical communication skills to help scientists engage in meaningful science advocacy.

The workshop focuses on building 4 significant skills:

  • Reading body language
  • Utilizing reflective listening
  • Moving conversations forward
  • Audience consideration

Finally, through simple role play, scientists will practice the skills needed to accurately read and appropriately react to the natural course of communicating with those who have differing viewpoints.
