2020 Southeastern Michigan Virtual Consensus Conference on App-Based Work and the Gig-Economy

Each year, ESPA hosts a consensus conference on a STEM-related topic of significance to residents of southeast Michigan. These conferences provide a sample of the community’s citizens with high level expertise, equipping them to act as value consultants for informing future policy directions.

For 2020, ESPA organized an opportunity for Wayne and Washtenaw County residents to come together virtually to learn about and voice their opinions on app-based work and the gig-economy. The community members are able to provide their perspectives to local, county, and state decision makers.

A background information packet was created by ESPA and provided for the community member panel. You can find this packet below. Part of this consensus conference was open to the public—on September 26, selected community member panelists discussed app-based work with invited experts on Zoom. The recording of this event is also below.
