Being in Arts Scholars was a journey,I remember the first time in the very beginning when we did service day (didn't like how we had to do that the day after moving into my dorm and then waking up early at that.) But I'm glad it's all over. I enjoyed some of the assignments that we did like the pentathlons and the creative process assignments and I feel like I am able to get an understanding of all that I can for the future if I want to present an idea of some sort. Throughout my time in Arts Scholars, I really enjoyed the field trips that we've been on. Especially the New York trip, it was so fun to roam through the big apple and to see a broadway show. It showed me a broad perspective of what art could be. The broadway show that we saw was "The Who's Tommy" and one of the interesting thing that I was in the play was when the child was getting groomed by the prostitute ( it was crazy ). I didn't know hat they could put a heavy topic like that in a show, now I know that it was something to bring to light. It challenged me to not be afraid to put what I think needs to be talked about. While creating my own capstone project, I think that what i did in my first year when we showcased our art for the first time at the end of the semester, it inspired me that my medium would be poetry. One of the ways that I have deepened my artistic talents is that I have been reading poetry books and that inspired me to be stronger in my writing. While being surrounded by diverse artistic ideas, I was comfortable in it because I knew that everything could mash together. There were times where I became a little intimidated by all of the artwork surrounded by me but over time I knew that not everyone's artwork is perfect. In the end, I feel like there are some things that I can take with me when I work in the work force: like how to work with others around and to accept other people's opinions. Arts Scholars really did help me grow.
