Honored Visit to SID Lab

We were privileged to host Dr. Akif Khan (Managing Director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board - KPITB), Muhammad Shoaib (Deputy Director, Digital Skills & Digital Economy, KPITB), and Touqir Gohar (Business Intelligence Developer & Analyst, KPITB) at the SID - Secured IoT Devices Lab - UET Peshawar.
During their visit, the distinguished guests engaged with our students, explored their innovative projects, and expressed great enthusiasm for the lab's ongoing activities. Their encouraging feedback and interest reaffirmed the importance of fostering strong academic and scientific collaborations.

Distinguished Visit at SID Lab – Showcasing Innovation and Impact

We were honored to welcome Ms. Ayesha Bano, Former Member of the Provincial Assembly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Mr. Asim Ishaq Khan, Director of National Incubation Center, Peshawar, to the SID Lab today. They were accompanied by Prof. Dr. Laiq Hasan, Chairman, Department of Computer Systems Engineering.
During the visit, the guests were briefed on a range of cutting-edge projects currently underway at the lab, including:

CUST Islamabad Students Visited SID Lab

SID Lab hosted faculty and students from Capital University of Science & Technology Islamabad led by Engr. Amir Habib. The delegation explored several other cutting-edge research facilities, including:

The visiting students were introduced to ongoing research activities in the fields of IoT security, AI-powered systems, smart devices, and innovative hardware solutions. Demos were presented by our dedicated undergraduate researchers.
Our special guests Mr. Abid Nawaz Marwat, Attorney-at-Law, gave an insightful talk on the legal, administrative, and liaison aspects of SID research projects, and Engr. Tooba Azhar, faculty member at FAST NUCES, Islamabad Campus, participated in the event as well.
SID Lab at the Forefront of Innovation and Digitization

SID Lab was honoured to host the HEC ERP – SLCM GO-Live event at UET Peshawar, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s journey toward academic digitization.
This groundbreaking initiative under the leadership of Project Director Prof. Dr. Misbah Ullah positions UET Peshawar as the first university in Pakistan to implement the HEC ERP Student Lifecycle Management (SLCM) system, a major leap toward streamlined, technology-driven education management.
Our undergraduate researchers, Ilham Hamid and Alina Khewal, spearheaded the Go-Live event, demonstrating the impact of student-led innovation in national transformation efforts.
At SID Lab, we take pride in being part of this transformative journey, driving forward the future of higher education through innovation and collaboration.
Engr. Mubbasher Khanzada Visited the SID Lab

Engr. Mubbasher Khanzada, Founder & CEO of Welltime Ltd UK, along with Dr. Yasir Afridi, faculty member of the Department of Computer Systems Engineering, visited the SID Lab. As a strategic partner in projects focused on Ransomware Detection solutions, Engr. Khanzada reviewed the ongoing progress and shared insights on the future roadmap.
During the visit, he also expressed keen interest in several other innovative initiatives underway at the lab, including UAV design, smart monitoring of perishable goods, and the smart teaching project.

Mr. Muhammad Ali Khan Visited the SID Lab

We were honored to host Mr. Muhammad Ali Khan, Deputy Director of the Cyber Crime Cell, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Peshawar, at SID Lab on 20 March 2025. He shared valuable insights on the rapid spread of misinformation and fake news across digital platforms, including social media and news outlets, and discussed effective strategies to combat this global challenge.
Mr. Khan also engaged with our students and staff, exploring their cybersecurity projects and activities. He was impressed by the ambition and innovation displayed by our students. To commemorate his visit, the Director of SID Lab presented him with a memento as a token of appreciation.
Dr. Shahid Khan Visited the SID Lab

We were honored to welcome Assistant Professor Dr. Shahid Khan, Postdoc Researcher at the Gdansk University of Technology, Poland, to the SID Lab on 17 March 2025.
Dr. Khan shared an insightful overview of his current research projects, sparking engaging discussions and opening doors for potential collaboration opportunities for our talented students. His visit not only enriched our knowledge but also strengthened the bond between our lab and the academic community in Poland.
As a token of appreciation, Dr. Khan was presented with a souvenir from SID Lab, and he, in turn, gifted a special memento from Poland to our Lab Director.
SID Lab's Workshop at University of Agriculture, Peshawar

In collaboration with Institute of Computers Sciences & Information Technology, University of Agriculture, Peshawar and Google Developers Group On Campus UET Peshawar, SID Lab successfully hosted an insightful workshop titled “Hack the Web - Practical Hacking for Beginners” at the Video Conference Room, University of Agriculture, Peshawar on 18 Feb. 2025.
The event was graced by Dr. Muhammad Fayaz (Director IBMS), Dr. Asfandyar (HoD ICS/IT) alongside esteemed faculty members and enthusiastic students. Dr. Arbab Waseem Abbas delivered the welcome and opening note, outlining the workshop’s overview and objectives. Ilham Hamid led the practical hands-on workshop, and Sumaiqa Alam did an excellent job anchoring the session. Special acknowledgment is extended to Noor Ul Arfeen for his instrumental role in ensuring the workshop's success. The event was sponsored by Hash Computing.
SID Lab's Visit of Agriculture Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The SID Lab called on Mr. Atta ur Rehman Khalil, Secretary Agriculture Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 18 Jan. 2025. Discussions centered around leveraging UAV technologies and IoT-based solutions to modernize agriculture processes in the province. The Honorable Secretary highlighted the need for innovative digital solutions to enhance productivity and invited the lab to collaborate on transformative agriculture projects for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Divisional Forest Officer Peshawar Visited the SID Lab

The Divisional Forest Officer, P&D Peshawar, Climate Change, Forestry Environment & Wildlife Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Sulaiman Khan visited the SID lab on 15 Jan. 2025. He took a keen interest in lab activities. He also explained his department's role in countering factors adversely affecting the environment and forests of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He invited the lab to play a role in developing digital solutions to contemporary environmental issues.

Webinar on Applications of Blockchain by Dr. Mubashir Husain Rehmani at SID Lab

The SID Lab hosted a webinar featuring esteemed researcher Dr. Mubashir Husain Rehmani, a globally acclaimed Top 1% Computer Scientists and Lecturer at Munster Technological University, Ireland.
The session was attended by faculty, students, and professionals at UET Peshawar, at Fazaia College of Education for Women Peshawar, and also online. The webinar offered an engaging discussion on blockchain applications and their impact on technologies.
A Q&A session concluded the event, with questions asked by participants. Prizes were awarded to participants for correctly answering the questions asked by Dr. Rehmani as well.
SID Lab's Visit of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Peshawar

The team of SID Lab visited Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Peshawar on 27 Dec. 2024. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the state-of-the-art ICT facilities at the healthcare organization. The team was received at the MIS Center of the hospital and briefed about the digitalization of processes, the management of databases, and cybersecurity standards observed at the organization.
Seminar on Revisiting the Pitfalls in AI by Dr. Hazrat Ali at SID Lab

The SID Lab hosted a seminar on “Revisiting the Pitfalls in AI”, on December 18, 2024 at DCSE Lab 1.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Hazrat Ali (Lecturer in AI/Data Science, University of Stirling, UK) delivered a thought-provoking talk on AI’s challenges, failures, and ethical considerations.
The event was graced by Chairman DCSE, Prof. Dr. Laiq Hasan, alongside faculty members, students, and online international audiences from the UK, Italy, South Korea, etc. The engaging discussion provided valuable insights and sparked meaningful conversations.

Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 Roadshow

A team of Huawei led by Hamza Bin Najam, Talent Ecosystem Manager Huawei Pakistan, visited UET Peshawar. The team was received by Dr. Safdar Nawaz Khan Marwat and Dr. Yasir Saleem Afridi of the Department of Computer Systems Engineering. The team invited students of UET Peshawar to participate in the 2024-2025 Huawei ICT Competition and compete through National, Regional, and International Rounds to win amazing prizes, and become a part of the evolution of digital learning. The team held a quiz on the occasion and distributed prizes among top performers as well. SID Lab presented the guest with a shield.
