Dr. Muhammad Salman Khan of Qatar University Visited SID Lab

Dr. Muhammad Salman Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Qatar University, visited SID - Secured IoT Devices Lab - UET Peshawar on 26 June 2024. He showed great enthusiasm in our ongoing R&D activities and expressed keen interest in potential collaborations. It is pertinent to mention that he initiated working with two MSc and one PhD students of SID Lab on cutting-edge AI research topics.

Dr. Kashif Ahmad of Munster Technological University Visited SID Lab

Dr. Kashif Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Munster Technological University Ireland, and Dr. Sahib Khan, Assistant Professor, UET Mardan, visited the SID Lab. The primary purpose of the visit was to strengthen research ties on Student and Faculty levels in the areas of Internet-of-Behavior, IoT-based Data Analytics, Autotext Generators, and Style Change Analysis. Further, an understanding was reached that supervision and counselling of DCSE students in pursuing research-based careers shall be done in a formal manner in future iA. Dr. Amaad Khalil and Dr. Abeer Irfan of DCSE also graced the occasion.

Faculty and Students of University of Malakand - Department of Software Engineering Visited SID Lab

Faculty members (Amir Habib, Syed Iqtidar Shah, Akhyar Ali Khan) and students from the Department of Software Engineering, University of Malakand visited the SID Lab. The esteemed visitors were briefed on the lab's ongoing R&D activities in IoT, Cyber Security, Smart Grid, and Artificial Intelligence. The students showed a keen interest in the innovative IoT solutions and prototypes related to logistics being developed at the lab. The students interacted with the lab's research staff, and the SID team answered their queries.

Faculty members of GIKI Visited SID Lab

Faculty members of GIKI visited SID Lab for a brainstorming session on the commercialization of research and development of intellectual property. Dr. Muhammad Hanif and Dr. Salman Ahmed led the delegation. A presentation and demonstration were followed by panel discussion on exploring avenues for commercialization of research findings and innovative ideas developed in the lab over the years. Joint funding and Travel grant prospects were pondered as well.

Award Distribution Ceremony for Position Holders of Jazz 5G Hackathon at NUST

The award distribution ceremony for the position holders of the Jazz 5G Hackathon was held at the Video Conference Hall here today. The team UET Peshawar has won 3rd position all over Pakistan among the 622 participating teams held at NUST Islamabad on 9 Mar. 2024.

The chief guest of the ceremony was Prof. Dr. Syed Waqar Shah, Dean Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering while Dr. Tariq Ullah Jan, Associate Dean ECE and Dr. Muhammad Ajmal, Director Postgraduate Studies also graced the event. The awards were given to the hackathon team members including Umamah, Amir Habib, Nauman Khan, Ilham Hamid, Saira Zafar, Faryal Ishfaq, Waseem Khan, Arbab Waseem, and Mahad Shah by the chief guest.

SID Lab's 3rd Position in Pakistan at the Jazz 5G Hackathon held at NUST

The team of SID Lab secured 3rd position nationally among the 622 applicants for the 5G Innovation Hackathon, an initiative of Jazz, Code for Pakistan, National Information Technology Board, Huawei and OPPO held at NUST. The team was lead by Umamah Kirmani, and included Amir Habib, Nauman Khan, Ilham Hamid and Saira Zafar. The team was well supported by Waseem Khan, Mahad Shah, Faryal Ishfaq, Aman Islam and everyone at the SID Lab.

Students of Fazaia Degree College Visited SID Lab

The SID Lab was visited by future scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs of the Fazaia Degree College, Peshawar on 28 Feb. 2024. The visiting students took keen interest in the innovative IoT solutions and prototypes at the lab, and asked pertinent questions from the SID team. The delegation also visited other labs and facilities at UET Peshawar, and were served with tea, which was hosted by Career Development Center (CDC), UET Peshawar.

Adnan Malik, Founder of Secure Purple, Visited SID Lab

Mr. Adnan Malik, founder of Secure Purple visited the SID Lab during a one-day seminar on “navigating social media usage, privacy and cyber crime” organized by the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization, UET Peshawar on 20 Feb. 2024. He was accompanied during the visit by former and current students of DCSE, UET Peshawar. During the visit, he explored the projects carried out at SID Lab. He was invited to perform security audits of various digital repositories of UET Peshawar in the coming days. He agreed to perform Vulnerability assessment, Penetration testing, and Configuration scans at Secure Purple.

Dr. Arsalan Arif of GIKI Visited SID Lab

Dr. Arsalan Arif, Assistant Professor, GIKI, Swabi paid a visit to the SID Lab and explored the prototypes developed for 5G based agricultural and logistical IoT solutions for ultra reliable, low latency, massive machine type, and broadband communications with cybersecurity considerations. The esteemed guest showed interest in establishing research ties with SID Lab and invited the team to visit GIKI in the near future.

SID Lab's Trip to NIC Peshawar

SID team visited the National Incubation Center (NIC) Peshawar, where Bilal Farooq Khan, Head of Marketing, Communications and Partnerships, briefed the team on the history of NIC Peshawar and about the ongoing activities. The team visited various sections of NIC as well.

SID Team consisting of Waseen Khan, Muhammad Nauman Khan, and Mahad Shah actively participated in the groundbreaking "AI in Healthcare, Drug Discovery, and Allied Sciences (AI-h2D)" workshop at GIKI University Swabi. This workshop marked a crucial convergence between AI and Health, Pharmaceuticals, and Allied Sciences research, underscoring our commitment to staying at the forefront of transformative advancements. Our team participated in hands-on training for AI model deployment in Healthcare, drug discovery, and allied sciences use cases.
