The University of the East (Pamantasan ng Silangan), also known as UE, is a private university located in Manila, Philippines. Founded in 1946, business tycoon Lucio Tan acquired the university in 1990. University of the East offers degree programs from basic education to graduate studies. It also has two other campuses, one in Caloocan, and its medical school, the UE Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center located in Aurora Blvd., Dona Imelda, Quezon City.
University of the East is one of the Philippines leading universities, having produced, for 75 years now as of September 2021, over a million alumni who have made their mark as leaders and achievers in various fields of endeavor across the country and around the world.

UE's Woman Statue
"The Luwalhati Statue" Ophelia Salas, also known as Lualhati, is a very famous person/statue in University of the East. Carved by our National Artist, Guillermo Tolentino, it became the symbol of UE.
She was voted the as the first president of the UE Women's Club that initiated a campus beautification, dramatics, dance home arts, handicrafting and cookery.
She did not only excel in academics but also in sports. She was a proficient swimmer and also captain of the women's volleyball team.

As a private non-sectarian institution of higher learning, the University of the East commits itself to producing, through relevant and affordable quality education,
morally upright and competent leaders in various professions, imbued with a strong sense of service to their fellowmen and their country.

UE Caloocan's Buildings
UE Caloocan has a total of 5 buildings being the LCT (Lucio C. Tan), TYK (Tan Yan Kee). College of Engineering, UE Gymnasium and the Administration Building.
LCT (Lucio C. Tan) Building is named after Lucio Tan because he acquired the university in 1990 and is still the current owner of the University of the East.
TYK (Tan Yan Kee) Building is named after the late Tan Yan Kee, the father of UE's honorary chairman, Dr. Lucio C. Tan. The Caloocan Campus Colleges of Business Administration, Arts and Sciences, and Fine Arts are housed in the TYK Academic Building.
Administration Building serves as the central hub for key administrative functions, housing offices such as the President's Office, Registrar's Office, and Finance and Accounting. It facilitates the coordination of various tasks, including student enrollment, personnel management, and financial transactions.
UE's Gymnasium serves as a multifunctional facility primarily used for sports and athletics, accommodating activities like basketball and volleyball. Additionally, it functions as a venue for physical education classes, providing students with a space for fitness activities as part of their curriculum. The gymnasium may also host university events, assemblies, and recreational activities.
