SUBJECTS FOUND IN STEM

GENERAL CHEMISTRY in the STEM strand typically refers to an introductory course that covers fundamental principles of chemistry. This foundational knowledge is essential for students pursuing STEM fields as it provides the basis for understanding more advanced concepts in chemistry and related disciplines. 

ORAL COMMUNICATION refers to the development of effective verbal communication skills within the context of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students learn to articulate complex ideas clearly, present scientific findings, and engage in discussions related to STEM subjects. This skill is crucial for STEM professionals who often need to communicate their ideas, research findings, or project updates to colleagues, stakeholders, and the wider community. 

EARTH SCIENCE in the STEM strand involves the study of the Earth and its processes, including geology, meteorology, oceanography, and environmental science. Students explore topics such as plate tectonics, weather patterns, natural disasters, and the impact of human activities on the planet. This knowledge equips STEM students with a broader understanding of Earth's systems, contributing to their ability to address environmental challenges and make informed decisions in scientific and engineering contexts. 

PHILOSOPHY is not traditionally a part of the STEM strand, which primarily focuses on science and quantitative disciplines. However, incorporating philosophical discussions within STEM education can enhance critical thinking, ethical considerations, and the broader implications of scientific advancements. While philosophy may not be a formal component of the STEM strand, its inclusion in interdisciplinary discussions can contribute to a more holistic approach to problem-solving and ethical decision-making within the STEM fields. 

PRE-CALCULUS in the STEM strand serves as a foundational course that prepares students for advanced mathematical concepts typically encountered in calculus and other higher-level math courses. It covers topics such as functions, trigonometry, algebraic manipulations, and mathematical modeling. Proficiency in pre-calculus is crucial for STEM students, providing them with the mathematical tools necessary for solving complex problems in various STEM disciplines. 

GENERAL MATHEMATICS in the STEM strand typically refers to a foundational course that covers essential mathematical concepts without delving into advanced topics like calculus. This course aims to provide students with a solid mathematical background, including topics such as algebra, geometry, and statistics. It serves as a prerequisite for more advanced STEM-related math courses, offering a fundamental understanding of mathematical principles applicable across various STEM disciplines. 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION is not inherently part of the STEM traditionally focuses on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics subjects. However, some educational programs may include physical education as a complementary component to foster overall well-being and a balanced education. Incorporating physical activities can promote a healthy lifestyle, which can positively impact a student's ability to focus and excel in STEM subjects by supporting overall cognitive and physical health. 

KOMUNIKASYON AT PANANALIKSIK SA WIKA AT KULTURANG PILIPINO aims to develop students' proficiency in Filipino, the national language, and enhance their research skills, emphasizing communication within the context of STEM subjects. 

EMPOWERMENT TECHNOLOGY is also known as "E-Tech". It translates to "Communication and Research in the Language and Culture of the Philippines."  It focuses on utilizing technology for personal, academic, and professional development. Students learn about information and communication technology, digital literacy, responsible use of technology, and how to leverage digital tools effectively in various STEM-related contexts.
