I am the project manager at the CEB, and my primary responsibility is to support any projects that come through for the impact team and the operations team. I work on a wide variety of projects, whether it's the College and Career Fair, or the Block Party, all the way to launching a mobile app. The CEB is a unique ecosystem.
I started with a different role. I came to the CEB doing college and career advising. I did that here for two years and then I was promoted to the project manager. It was a nice transition, though my position is less student facing, which can be good and challenging at the same time. I miss working with students day to day, but my new responsibility allows me to focus on projects at higher levels that have a larger impact.
One project I am involved with is the safe passage program. We hired ambassadors to be in the community before and after school, to make sure that students, when they are on the bus routes, are getting here safely. When the students are released from school, there's additional support in the community. They do a lot of violence prevention and community awareness. We partnered with them to launch this pilot program. We are just putting the finishing touches on that leadership meeting today.
I think the highlight so far at the CEB was working with the seniors at Great Oaks. I just enjoy being able to support a number of them in their college and career journeys. We had a number of students get accepted to the University of Delaware, Jefferson University, etc. They received thousands of dollars in scholarships, and it's just really cool to see because these students are very talented.
I grew up in Cranford New Jersey and I spend most of my summers at the beach, like Seaside park. I still consider myself a beach person. I like to fish and surf. More recently, I had a son. Just a couple months ago. I want to continue to spend a lot of time with him. Do spontaneous things. So if I'm feeling like we need to take a trip, why then we'll take that trip.
