You Rock! Wall

Here at Udacity we have something called the "You Rock!" wall where we share when someone has really rocked at their job that week. It's a great way to acknowledge coworkers, see what others are working on and recognize a job well done. We know that many people have done an incredible job helping other students, overcoming incredible obstacles and/or working hard to make it to the finish line. We want to congratulate a job well done! To nominate someone, fill out this form: https://goo.gl/forms/HogPUROmRbGLVvJJ3

Doug Brown

  • He may not be a student, but he helped me immensely in the last project.
  • Doug (Project Coach) was a role model for my entire ND program from begin to the end from his dedication and commitment to this program and slack community. I have seen him answer and help everyone on this community. I cannot finish my program without this huge community and their supporting, especially Doug's hard work to help touch every single task, question and request. There are also other endless inspiration and other stories, but I was following along this community and Doug was helping everyone of us for this entire program. Thank you so much for his above and beyond!!

Jason Michael White

  • Has helped me on many projects throughout the FEND journey! Always concise and descriptive.
  • Pretty sure this guy is actually a 3rd Gen AI Droid programmed by Udacity to help students. He is constantly on Slack giving helpful insight and positive feedback!
  • Whew! I cannot begin to describe the impact that Jason had on my ability to finish this course. At the very end I was falling apart and he thoughtfully looked at my code and offered assistance, more than once. I know for a fact that I was only one of *several* students that he was helping in this way. His clear way of communicating and tireless efforts to see as many people cross the finish line is unlike anything I have seen before.
  • Jason patiently helped me out when I got stuck.

Daphne Tull

  • Daphne overcame a lot of struggles to complete her nano-degree. She had her wedding in October, personal health and family crisis, and multiple major work assignments. Over the course of the challenge phase and the scholarship phase she managed to remain on task and support others. She met up in-person and online with other FEND participants and even helped me troubleshoot issues in my ABND! Did I mention she JUST GOT MARRIED! She was even working on her FEND and answering questions on her honeymoon! Daphne has been my inspiration to finish my ABND track - if she could handle everything life threw at her these past few months AND complete the scholarship then I had no excuse!
  • We had our small group of women that worked together throughout the whole process and Daphne had helped all of us to get to the finish line. She has hosted coding gathering at the library to help encourage other people. It has been great to see someone learn so much in such a short time that can even help others
  • There are 7 of us in the FEND program in Indiana who have formed a virtual study group. We all stay in touch via Hangouts. Daphne is always available to help the rest of us whenever we ask and will work through our problems until they are solved. She has finished the course while working full time and even worked on the class the day before her wedding. One of her co-workers who was in the Android program also says Daphne was a great cheerleader and played a huge role in helping her finish. She was one of the driving forces behind our extra web design project (Project Mind and Heart) during the challenge scholarship. We are all grateful to her for her encouragement and support throughout this past year!
  • Daphne has been played a major role in helping me to complete this program, not only myself, but a multitude of others. She constantly sacrificed her time, sometimes even taking days of her life to assist others. She has a wonderful way with people and I feel very fortunate to have met and partnered up with her
  • Daphne motivated and helped many of us even from Phase 1.

Kehinde Onadipe

  • Kehinde has gone above and beyond to assist me. He has been helping me one-on-one late in the evenings several times a week to ensure that I am able to complete the program on-time. Because of him generously giving his time, even he's tired and has a family to care for, I will be able to complete the course on time.

Lloan Alas

  • Not only does he rock, but he's amazingly patient and helpful with all of us in our weekly study group (there are four of us!).
  • Best Sensei out there, really help me understand. 1:1 session were awesome
  • Awesome student mentor!!! He's a busy father, developer, and student working on his masters degree and still makes time to help and push those of us struggling through the program. He's always available to look over code, give suggestions, hints, tutoring or just encouragement. I'm happy to have gotten to know him through this program.

Robert J. Allen

  • For helping me through a complete conundrum of code that was Project 7 and overall support to someone that he did not know. It was deeply appreciated.

Curtis Getz

  • Since 11/8 (four days), Curtis had gone well above and beyond to help me implement Firebase Realtime Database into my project, including calls going to the home screen widget and intense troubleshooting and beta-testing. On and off, he must have spent at least five hours deep diving into my code. He has been incredibly patient and generous with his time!

Jacqueline Bostow

  • For being a great project manager for the WA group project.

Charles Rowland

  • He was very helpful to me, and to other students here. He is completely selfless ---- even when he's been ill, he's popped up on the forum to help students out.
  • Even before he became a Project Coach, Charles has always been a wonderful help to many ABND students. I've seen him help others, including myself, go through problems with our code step-by-step, and is patient while working with you. He also offers a light-hearted mood that is appreciated after the stress of working through errors!

Steve Sobelman

  • Steve was key to helping me over the hurdle on some issues I had with Movies Part 2 and Baking App projects. His solutions/suggestions were always clear and concise and it would take no more than a few exchanges to resolve the problem. I learn a lot from reading his answers to other students questions as well. I'm glad that he's a part of this track :) !

Muhammad Sami Qaisar

  • Because he is working really hard to fulfill his dreams and his family expectations. He completed his nano degree with very tight job schedule. I wish him very best of luck for his future and I hope that he will soon get a decent job he deserve!

Janice Medina

  • The gratitude of thousands is not enough for all of the work done with those "wonderlists" that you compiled with Crystal. I humbly thank you for keeping us on course with all of those resources flying through the slack channels. You definitely ROCK! I hope you found your new career niche and success!
  • She was a terrific partner for the FEND resource collection.

Fatemeh Hajizadeh

  • There aren't enough words to describe how much of an impact that Fatemeh had on my experience in this course! From helping me with my code, to leading the charge on side projects. She is always looking out for others and does all she can for them.

Jamila N

  • Jamila's strength and tenacity during this program kept me inspired to continue to fight for this dream.

Tamar Auber

  • I had the pleasure of working with Tamar a few times. She is constantly looking for ways to encourage and uplift others. She inspired me when I thought I wasn't going to make it and empathized with my struggles. I will be forever grateful for her.

Xavier Olivares

  • Xavier has put up with a lot of whining and doubt from me. I wanted to quit the course a number of times and he kept reassuring me to stay. He also stays up late at night helping those who are only able to work on the course once the day is nearly over. He is patient, kind, and resourceful.

Jennifer George

  • I met Jennifer during the challenge. She is a remarkable woman who gives all she can to those around her. Stepping up to help others and thinking outside the box is just part of how she operates.

Francisco Gutiérrez

  • Student mentor. He is really dedicate to help other students finish course work!

Adnan Usman

  • Student mentor, he helped me finish my course work!

Matthew Cranford

  • Matthew has been helpful since Phase 1. HIs walkthroughs were instrumental in helping many of us understand what was expected from us.

Greg Paw

  • Greg was extremely helpful. The MWS program wouldn't have been the same without him. He helped people on slack. He helped people 1 on 1. He found errors. He explained concepts. He explained code. Greg did it all.

Ish Tahir

  • I did project#7 with leaflet map. I didn't follow the crowd doing it with google map. I knew along the way, I would hit the wall as I am a beginner. However, I didn't realize that it would be very tricky to find help as most mentors and students are more familiar with google map. I've done around 80% of my project by myself with long hours of research. I almost gave up (the deadline was approaching and I didn't know there will be extensions :) at that time) when my (I had 3 mentors previously & also asked help from mentors in classroom) last mentor said that he couldn't offer any more help as he isn't familiar to leaflet. Then, I remembered that I DM-ed Ish Tahir, asking if he could help me with any projects and he said yes. When I DM-ed him for p#7, I didn't expect much. He said yes. He read through leaflet documentation (he did P#7 with google map) and spent hours (Friday to Monday) until midnight to walk me through the most difficult parts for me. He helped me until I submitted my project. He has a big heart. I couldn't thank him enough.

Rober L.

  • Robert has been helping numerous students with their projects by reviewing their code and pointing out bugs and typos and generally encouraging them to finish.

Catie Lynn

  • She organized the Design contest, from the website to the votation results. She has been really active in Slack helping to create a wonderful community.
  • Awesome job with the tshirt design contest!

Joe Mesot

  • Joe made three videos about the portfolio project, our first project for FEND. I found his clear, in-context, explanations about what he was doing, and why, and what he would be doing differently if he were actually at work (he does this as his day job) to be really helpful and insightful.

Danny Smith

  • Danny has been an awesome Team lead for our co-hort. keeping us motivated. Hosting zoom webinars along with Rachael every weekend. He has always been there to help us, and after our co-hort meeting he would do breakout sessions with to work one on one with us. We could always reach him for help. Thanks so much Danny from all of us in the MidWest-Tech-Fend group .
