Budgeting Buddy is a simple App done to help people maintain their day to day budget. Track your expenses in seconds. The Budgeting Buddy app is now available in the Google Play store. Install it now!

Udacity: How did the idea for the Budgeting Buddy come about?

Madonah: First I want to thank Udacity and Google for giving me and other students this chance, I decided to create budgeting buddy because I realized I had a problem with writing down my daily spending’s and organizing my monthly transactions, like in a day if I went and bought grocery I would record it on a paper but due to my fast life running around with two toddlers I would forget where I placed the paper.

I believe in planning your finances, so I thought now since I got this chance from Udacity and Google to learn Android Dev why not build an app which can help me organize my daily transaction so that I can see by the end of the month what did I spend more on and see if I can cut down or adjust and be a good spender. So having some experience from my previous work on visualizing mockups I went ahead and created a simple mock up to help me get started.

Udacity: What were your biggest obstacles when building this app? How did you overcome them?

Madonah: I have always believed in chasing my dreams, this has been my goal for many years now. So one of my biggest obstacle was trying to manage my time especially with two young kids, my first born is 3yr and second 19 months. Such a blessing. However I had to sacrifice my sleep, the only way I could manage to build my app was by sleeping late, that is my kids would go to bed at 7pm and I would start developing from 7-30 to 12 am midnight or even past that. In the morning I had to wake up early and take my first born to school since he is a preschooler. Coffee was my best friend until I noticed my eyes started twitching and had to stop the coffee. Otherwise I did manage since I wanted to apply what I learned.

Udacity: What advice do you have for anyone who wants to get their app into the Google Play store?

Madonah: My advice to anyone who wants to get their app on the App store, go for it. Take the simplest idea or think of a problem you want to solve and apply that on the app. Thank you Udacity and Google.

Thank you for sharing with us today, Madonah!
