Challenge #5: Share your Career Story!

Point value: 50 points per story

Details: Has the Grow with Google Scholarship program advanced your career in any way? We are awarding 50 points for every career story submitted and 200 team points if every active member of your cohort submits a career story. We are looking for career growth stories on: new jobs, promotions, new work projects, interviews, internships, and community development work.

Rules:

  • Only 1 story allowed per team member
  • Career growth opportunity should occur between January (when the Challenge course started) and now.
  • If a team member has already submitted a career story, they may do so again to earn the team points
  • If a student has not received one of the above career growth opportunity, they are welcome to still submit the form to share what brought them to the program and what impact they hope this program will have on their career.

SPECIAL COHORT CHALLENGE: 100 days of code 💻 - ONGOING

Point value: 500 points

Details: If all members of your cohort pledge to participate and complete the 100 Day of Code Challenge, you will receive an additional 500 points for your cohort!

Deadline to get all members to commit to #100daysofcode and finish by the program deadline: August 3, 2018

Challenge #4: Plan a Webinar - CLOSED

Point value: 500 points per webinar

Details: Does someone on your team have a skill, resource or knowledge that other students would benefit from hearing about? Each cohort should plan one webinar that will benefit their track or the entire scholarship program. The webinar does not have to be on a date in the next two weeks, but must be:

  1. Scheduled/Approved with Brenda and Kelsey before the challenge deadline on August 26th (1 week added!)
  2. Held before the cohort challenge program end date of October 14, 2018

Other details:

  • Your webinar can be recorded. It does not have to be live
  • Your webinar does not have to be a specific length in time
  • Your team may host or record as many webinars as they would like HOWEVER, we are only allowing one webinar per team member. Meaning, if the same team member hosts multiple webinars, then only 500 points for the first webinar will be awarded.
  • The webinars need to be "scheduled" with Kelsey or Brenda by the Sunday, August 19th deadline and "produced" before October 14th for the points (500 per webinar) to count.
  • If you have a questions on whether your webinar topic is suitable, just DM Brenda or Kelsey (Brenda.Udacity, Kelsey. Udacity)

Challenge #3: Meet New People - CLOSED

Point value: 50 points [Note: double points will be awarded to those cohorts who meetup with another cohort on July 28th, Study Jam Saturday]

Details: To complete this challenge, your cohort will partner with another cohort to host a virtual meetup. Teams will come together for at least 1 hour to share their motivational stories prompted by the image at right, as well as discuss course material, what projects they are struggling with, and what they do to get over project hurdles.

Tip: To find another cohort, check out the list of cohorts here and send a DM to their Team Captain. If your team does not have a captain listed, you can put any member of your team on that list for now.

Deadline: 11:59 PM PT on Sunday, August 5th. Each cohort must submit their own challenge completion form.

Challenge #2: Projects Submitted - CLOSED

Point value: Based on Nanodegree Track (see below)

Details: On top of the World Cup Competition with EMEA, each cohort will receive points for a project a member has submitted during this two week period. Students are not limited to one project - they can submit as many projects as they want in the allotted time. Points are weighted here:

ABND: +6

AND: +7

FEND: + 8

MWS: +20

Deadline: 11:59 PM PT on Sunday, July 22nd

  • Team Captains will be responsible for keeping track of the projects submitted by each team member during the challenge period and recording the final total using the Challenge form below
  • Only initial submission count! Subsequent submissions for the same project do not count.
  • Projects submitted prior to 7/9 will not be counted
  • Points will be awarded after projects have been verified as submitted

Challenge #1: My Secret Resource - CLOSED

Point value: 75 points

Details: To complete this challenge, every member of your cohort must share their favorite article, tutorial, video, mentor, project coach, or classmate tip to date -- something that helped them figure things out when they were really stuck. You must provide a backstory on why this is your favorite resource when sharing with your team members. Each student will then use the Master Resource Doc Survey Form to add their resource into the Master Resource Doc

Early Bird Points: If your If your cohort is able to complete in this challenge and submit their survey form within the first 7 days of this announcement (July 1st to be specific), your cohort will earn an extra 25 points!
